Holy Week
Lenten Fast and Abstinence
During the Lenten Season the Church asks Catholics to abide by the following regulations:
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are to be days of fasting (one main meal) and abstaining from meat. The fast obliges all those who are eighteen years of age until their 59th birthday.
The Fridays of Lent are days of abstaining from meat. This law obliges all those who have reached their fourteenth birthday.
For you will that our self-denial should give you thanks,
Humble our sinful pride,
Contribute to the feeding of the poor,
And so help us imitate you in your kindness.
